Colindale temp closure & part closure of Northern line: Spring/Summer 2024 [UPDATED 23 JULY]

NOTE for all London Underground Open Data users:

We are carrying out work which will provide step-free access and a larger ticket hall at Colindale Tube station. To enable this work to go ahead:

  • There will be a series of partial closures of the Northern line between Golders Green and Edgware during Spring and Summer 2024. The next series are planned to be:
    -Weekends 8-9, 15-16, 29-30 June 2024
    -Thursday 25 July - Sunday 28 July 2024 Please see ‘UPDATED INFO - added 23 July 2024’ section below for more details.

  • Colindale station will be closed from Friday 7 June until December 2024

UPDATED INFO - added 23 July 2024

July closure postponed:

  • The partial closure that was scheduled to take place between Thursday 25 - Sunday 28 July (four days), will now take place between Saturday 7 to Sunday 8 September 2024 instead (two days). Northern line service will be running as normal 25-28 July but will not stop at Colindale.
    This is due to a reassessment of the construction programme.

  • This is not expected to impact the reopening date for Colindale station in December 2024.

Additional NL6 buses:

  • We are continuing to run additional NL6 buses during the busiest times in the morning and evening peaks. These buses boost the frequency of the NL6 from 4 to 6 buses per hour in the morning, and from 4 to 5 buses per hour in the evening.

  • The additional buses are dispatched locally and are not timetabled.

  • We continue to monitor the trial of running additional NL6 buses between Colindale and Hendon Central to help reduce queues and provide further resilience to bus services during the morning and afternoon peaks.

  • They will remain in place until Friday 2 August 2024 when it will be reviewed.

Additional 186 buses

  • In addition to the free NL6 bus service between Colindale and Hendon Central, we have been running extra buses on route 186 between the last 186 bus and the first N5 night bus or the last N6 night bus and the first 186 bus, after midnight on Friday/Saturday and early morning Saturday/Sundays.

  • This has provided customers in the Colindale area access to and from Northern line stations when Night Tube runs.

  • These additional buses will continue to run between Hendon Central and either Quakers Course (Grahame Park) or Edgware.

Open Data updates:
Disruptions will be available in our Unified API as normal.
Updated Northern line timetables will also be available in TxC data.
NOTE: there will be no NL6 files in TxC. Timetables for route 186 may be available in TxC if these schedules are provided/uploaded by the bus operator.
