"Exception: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received" for https://api.tfl.gov.uk/line/mode/ ... /status

@jamesevans

I’m using https://api.tfl.gov.uk/line/mode/tube,overground,dlr,tflrail,tram/status in the code a lot to get the rainbow status data to mix with other outputs.

The odd thing is that it times out (after 10 seconds) very occasionally enough to appear in the system logs…

The thing is, 52 times in 28 days isn’t really that much to worry about, but is is enough to have to explain the client.

Any idea? I’m thinking I need to be able to fake up a empty status message when there is a timeout.

Thanks

hi @briantist - is there any pattern to when in the day this occurs?

@jamesevans

Here’s a plot of when they happen. Time is horizontal, date is vertical (lowest at the bottom).

I don’t think I can see any pattern here at all!

I think I can see a man on a horse.

Now you mention it … yes, definitely.

That chart is TFL trying to tell us that every journey can be measured in horsepower :slight_smile:
