Upcoming UAPI improvements to align LO predictions with respective lines - Tues 23 July 2024

Our developers have been working on some Unified API data improvements to align London Overground predictions/departures with their respective lines - this is in advance of the upcoming London Overground rebrand changes due in September 2024 (NOTE: as far as we are aware, the National Rail’s Darwin feed will not include the new individually named lines).

IMPORTANT: if you are getting London Overground predictions/departure data directly from Darwin or TRUST (rather than through our UAPI), you will not be affected by the changes described below.

What are the changes?

  1. For Whitechapel there are two ATCO codes that we currently associate (both the LO and EL) predictions/departures to:
  • 910GWCHAPEL
  • 910GWCHAPXR

Once the improvement has been released, London Overground predictions for Whitechapel will only be allocated to the ATCO code: 910GWCHAPEL
ie. https://api.tfl.gov.uk/StopPoint/910GWCHAPEL/ArrivalDepartures?lineIds=london-overground

  1. For London Liverpool Street there are two ATCO codes that we currently associate (both the LO and EL) predictions/departures to:
  • 910GLIVST
  • 910GLIVSTLL

Once the improvement has been released, London Overground predictions for London Liverpool Street will only be allocated to the ATCO code: 910GLIVST
ie. https://api.tfl.gov.uk/StopPoint/910GLIVST/ArrivalDepartures?lineIds=london-overground

How might this impact me / my digital product?

You will no longer be able to receive London Overground predictions for the Elizabeth line stations at Whitechapel or London Liverpool Street. You will still get the London Overground predictions at the National Rail stations.

Depending on how you are currently using our UAPI data, this is likely to be an improvement as it means we will be removing any chance of getting misleading predictions at the wrong station.

When are these changes due to be rolled out?

The release date for these UAPI data improvements is: Tuesday 23 July 2024. We will update this post once this has happened, or to let you know if there are any delays.

If you have any comments or questions about any of this, please add a reply below.

Many thanks
