August Bank Hol travel disruption - 26-28 Aug 2023

IMPORTANT TRAVEL INFO for all Open Data users relating to the August Bank Holiday weekend:

Event closures:

  • Over the Bank Holiday weekend of 26 to 28 August, London is hosting several major events right across London including the annual Notting Hill Carnival

  • Notting Hill Carnival is always very popular, and with plenty of other big events happening across London, our services and roads especially in west, central and north London may be busier than normal particularly at certain times and locations

  • To support the events all our transport networks will be running, with planned closures kept to a minimum and some changes to bus service routes and times, especially in west London, as road closures will be in place.

Tower Bridge closure:

  • Tower Bridge is also closed for maintenance work over the Bank Holiday weekend.
  • From 22:00 on Friday 25 to 05:00 on Tuesday 29 August, Tower bridge will be closed to all users including people walking.

Full, current information relating to closures can be found on our Status Updates page.

Thanks, Gerard.

How about frequency enhancements? I am aware from contacts that 7, 31 and 328 have extra buses over parts of the routes for this purpose but there may be others; the 18 springs to mind.

It would also be nice if such info were to be made available in one place on the website. I mentioned New Year because it has often proved difficult to get an overview of what is running overnight on New Year’s Eve. That actually matters more because it is “service or no service” rather than being pleasantly surprised to find extra buses on the route you are using.
