Am I missing anyway of getting platform details for tube stations from the API? I can only see it appearing under an arrival prediction, for that prediction specifically. I want to create a data set of stations and their platforms though (number and name).

Are you just after the platform number counts (almost all are “2”) for a specific type of StopPoint or do you want more detail?
Does this not give you what you want?
https://api.tfl.gov.uk/TrackerNet/PredictionDetailed/D/TGR
I mean this is a prediction, but it does give you all the platforms, whether there are trains around or not.
D/TGR means District line/Turnham Green - I’m not sure how to get the full list of station abbreviations 
Number and direction.
At the moment the best I can come up with is looping through https://api.tfl.gov.uk/Line/central/Arrivals for example and parsing the platformName field. That won’t capture them all thought because if nothing is expected then the platform won’t be listed.
@netstruggler idea of looping through all the stations via https://api.tfl.gov.uk/TrackerNet/PredictionDetailed/C/LYS will get them all but it’s another API and another data set of station codes.

I am experiencing the same issues. I am performing Arrival Predictions however I require all the platforms even if no prediction exists at that moment.

but I keep getting an error returned. And some of the stations have 1 or more ids. For example:

Which Id should I use for this particular station?

I’m still getting the below response from TrackerNet. Do I need to register or something?
There is an unknown connection issue between Cloudflare and the origin web server. As a result, the web page can not be displayed.
You need to use this URL to access TrackerNet at the moment
http://cloud.tfl.gov.uk/TrackerNet/PredictionDetailed/P/HRF
They were going to put it back to the one in the documents, but for the moment use the non-SSL one. It’s not like the data needs encryption is it?
