This may be due to too much data.
I also noticed that for this type, stations are returned not throughout London, but throughout the UK.
It would actually be nice to be able to get all the train stations across the UK.
Perhaps it is worth adding pagination for this endpoint as implemented for StopPoint/Mode/:modeId?

In terms of alternatives to the Unified API for getting data about railway stations, there are a few options:
The data we have in the Unified API comes from NaPTAN, so you could actually get it from the source.
That said, thank you for reporting the issue about the error. I’ll loop in my colleague @SarahLS regarding this.

Yes, I looked at the NaPTAN source, but there are no transport lines there
If you go to the Download stop data by local authority page and enter 910 in the “Search local authority” box, you should be able to download the dataset of national rail stations, an extract of which I’ll include below:
