Why do the accessible routes in TfL’s Kings Cross St Pancras point away from NR St Pancras lift?

I know that the routes inside the station for TfL Kings Cross St Pancras complex are often marked for the best flow of passengers, rather than the quickest route.

I notice today that the signs for [National Rail symbol] St Pancras all point towards [National Rail symbol] King’s Cross.

There is, however, a perfectly serviceable lift from the Underground station level

which provides access to both the ground level of St Pancras and SE High Speed platforms.

So why do the signs point 180 degrees away from this lift?

(Supplementary point, shouldn’t the signs saying “Trains [NR Symbol]” really say “National Rail [NR Symbol]” given the huge supply of tube-Trains in the station?
