hi @Ajebz - the stops have now been added in for the 40 and 189. They don’t currently have predictions, but when the source data fix is released, these should flow through.

Just to add to this, I’m currently going through and matching up bus stop names to the relevant iBus announcement files released under FOI. During this, I’ve noticed a couple of mismatches between the Unified API and the real world.

  • 490003027E should be named “Priory Terrace”, like 490003027SW is (this is also messed up in-person with the shelter showing “Abbey Road” and the flag showing “Priory Terrace”)

  • 490017849E should be “Peel Centre”, which matches Street View imagery of the bus stop

Welcome to the forum!

This seems like a strange quirk where you have 2 stops named differently directly opposite each other. I found a Youtube video that shows the Priory Terrace label on the other side of the shelter that appears to be a mismatch to the image you have. There is another Abbey Road stop (M) further up the road, after the crossroads. I’ve raised all these issues with the Bus Asset team to clarify the situation.

After discussing this with the Journey Planner team, there has been a change of the stop name in the last few months. The Street View for this stop on Google seems to be from October 2022 and was correct at the time.

The Museum of London at Barbican site was closed in December 2022 and the StreetView was from June 2022. The stop was renamed to Aldersgate Street after the site closed.

It appears that Arena Essex is no longer operational and that stop has been renamed since the StreetView was taken in April 2021. I found this YouTube video of the 372 from 1 year ago showing the newer name.

This appears to be an issue with the labelling of the stop area in the NaPTAN file for Thurrock. Both stop points are correctly labelled with The Thurrock Hotel but the parent is labelled as Back Lane. Is it possible to flag this to the Thurrock authorities @drjharrison ?

Thanks for the detailed response! I shouldn’t rely on street view imagery so much, is what I’m hearing… :smile: I’ll keep this in mind going forward!

I’m finding that a lot of the audio files for stops are completely missing from the FOI Sharepoint anyway, so my plan is turning out to be a rather fruitless endeavor nonetheless.

At least I’ve only gotten to the start of bus stops whose names start with B, I suppose.

Thanks for raising the Priory Terrace/Abbey Road one.

There is a further issue with these stops. I think both Google Maps and Open Street Map show them with their correct locations which are not directly opposite each other. However, the coordinates in their current NaPTAN entries do place them directly opposite:

It seems from Open Street Map that the correct location of Abbey Road (490003027E) is 51.5396678, -0.1878819.

It just happens to be round the corner from the Priory Road stop referenced earlier in the thread.

Not relevant to the thread but is it unusual to have bus cages immediately opposite each other on a road of that width? If there is a bus at each stop, nothing with four wheels can get through.

The Carshalton Station stops on 157 should be resolved on 25 May when the new schedule goes live.

The West Kensington Estate and Garthland drive have been reported to colleagues in London Buses to resolve issues with the source data.

Are these issues to do with Sloughs NAPTAN? I have tried reporting these stops to them last week for having the wrong names but no reply yet (Took a few attempts to get some stops sorted last time).

There is something very odd with those Slough stops. The wrong names appear in NaPTAN, Google maps and the TfL website listings. However, I also produce stop and sequence databases from the XML timetables in the journey planner zip downloads. Those derive the correct names from the Route 81 timetable, both currently and as long ago as last September.

As an aside to this, I noticed the other day that the Southgate Police Station stops are now being described as Chase Side / Southgate High Street. The on bus announcement (on the 125) had not been changed.

The police station closed some time ago so renaming is sensible. The trouble is that Southgate High Street is somewhere else entirely, running south from Southgate Station, which is where any passenger wanting the High Street should alight (from the 125). Something like “Chase Side / Shopping Centre” would be better.
